Martin Seligman, the father of Positive Psychology says that for a person to be truly happy and live a meaningful life, that person must recognize their personal strengths and use these strengths for the greater good. If we are to take Seligman’s advice, we should spend time trying to figure out our personal strengths and not waste our valuable time and life doing jobs that don’t please us and take us away from doing what we were made to do. If this is the secret of happiness, shouldn’t we all be focusing on our strengths and not wasting time with all the other bits? I now know why I do what I do as a profession. What about you?
Took an interesting free VIA Survey-120 for self discovery. This survey is a revised version of the original VIA-IS which was developed by renowned psychologist, Christopher Peterson, Ph.D. as a 240 item, scientifically validated, questionnaire on strength assessments for adults and youth. The VIA Survey has been taken by over 1.3 million people worldwide and has been translated into 17 languages.
This interesting survey helped me to identify what is best in me. I always believe in looking for my gifts and strengths so I can focus on them more effectively. It is also an important part of my self mastery and discovery. I would recommend all of you to try it, it's FREE!
